During 1990 the artist's interest in Jules Pascin was reflected in his art. Pascin, who was born Julius Pincas in Bulgaria in 1885, worked mostly in Paris, but travelled to Brooklyn USA. Pascin became a US citizen in 1920. He returned to Paris shortly after, and on the eve of a prestigious solo exhibition committed suicide by cutting his wrists and hanging himself in 1930. Geoff Todd met a French model (Alex) in 1990 who, coupled with a shared interest in French Modernism, inspired many works, apart from the very large drawings shown here. Since then Geoff Todd has acquired two original drawings by Pascin.
